Top 10 South Indian Dishes: Are you ready? Here We go.......................

South Indian Food is the most delicious food in India. (So what about the north? will see that later :P)
Many people believe that South Indian food is the hottest food in India but unfortunately that's not the true fact (we will see that later too :P). Rice and Curry (veg/nonveg) are the most used food in South India along with some crispy snacks Appalam, Vadagam, Chutney(Yummy!!!) and fried veg/non-veg foods.
We are gonna see Top 10 isn't, so will start from 10 to 1.

10. Lemon Rice (Elumichai Satham)
It's a quick variety meal for those who wants to finish their meal quickly and be on time when their Boyfriend or girlfriend calling you for a movie(Just kidding). This Traditional South India Dish prepared with boiled rice, lemon, dry red chilli, mustard seeds, curry leaves, cumin, asafoetida and black gram.



9. Puttu with Kadala Curry
Puttu is the most popular Kerala food and even other states in south recognise as Puttu is the special food in Kerala. Puttu is cylindrical steamed rice cake prepared with coconut shavings and is often served as a breakfast food in Kerala and it's served with konda kadala (Black Chickpeas).


8. Medhu Vada ( Rasa Vada/Sambar Vada)
Medhu vada is the most favourite breakfast dish among the South Indians. Medhu Vada prepared with Minced Urad dal, Curry leaves, Whole Pepper, spices, herbes, salt and finally fried in Oil. What I liked about the Medu vada is when you dip into that Rasam or Sambar it's turning out to be a mouth-watering dish ( I Just Loved it). Medhu Vada served along with chutney as well.


7. Kerala Appam
Kerala Appam, a breakfast food made with fermented rice batter and served along with coconut milk. And it's a familiar one in the Tamil Nadu and Srilanka. Appam with coconut is still better love story than Twilight.! :P

6. Rasam
A Traditional south Indian soup and it's necessary to be part of the South Indian Meal as per the laws of Periyava's in South India (JK!). Rasam soup made of tamarind pulp and mixed with various spices.You must order a south Indian meal to get Rasam in South India. You only get this soup in South India, you heard that right South India


5.Andhra Chicken Masala
When you hear the word Andhra and food together, the one which comes to your mind certainly is hot, hotter and hottest. Yes, the spiciest city in South India and the chicken masala they make is delicious

A spicy Andhra curry made with ginger garlic paste, curry leaves, cinnamon and chicken masala.


4. Kerala Prawn Curry

I personally love seafood and Prawn is top of my list Kerala is not only famous for Puttu and Appam also very much famous for their Prawn curry cooking. Lat time when I visited, I have tasted prawn curry and I am telling you-you won't miss that one when you get ready for Kerala. God's own country has so many recipes under their sleeve.

3. Chettinadu Chicken
Chicken is always a pleasure to eat and when you get Chettindau chicken for your Lunch, it's going to be yummy tummy!!!!

Chettinadu chicken is one of the delicious South Indian Food in which you can get it for with or less spicy. I mostly preferred to have spicy chettinadu chicken as it gives me so much pleasure to my tongue.:P


2.Briyani ( Hyderabadi / Tamil Nadu)
Briyani the food which is commonly loved by most of the people in India. In India, you can find out a lot of varieties and South too has some varieties depending on the region. I have tasted Hyderabadi Briyani but I have liked Tamil Nadu style more than the Hyderabadi biryani. If you go interior towns in Tamilnadu they provide the best biryani you will ever have in your lifetime.


1. Masala Dosa / Idli
Both Idli and Masala Dosa are in my first place you cant take one away. since both are commonly loved my most of the people in South India. A crispy Masala Dosa or Idli with red, white and green chutney makes a superb pair. White Chutney - made of coconut and some spices. Red Chutney made of Tomato, onion and some spices. Green chutney made of mint leaves, coriander and some spices.
